Most women wear about a US 6–6½ and most men about a US 9–10. Use these only as a starting point — fingers vary a lot.

What shifts the average
- Height and build matter more than the number on a chart — taller, broader hands run larger.
- Which finger. These figures are for the ring finger; index and middle fingers are usually larger.
- Temperature and time of day move a finger by up to half a size.
